
Varsity Head Coach – Coach Kevin Lawson
The 2020 -21 season is Coach Lawson’s twentieth season coaching. This is his sixth season with Richardson High School and his third season as the Varsity Head Coach. He spent 11 seasons as the assistant coach for the Varsity basketball team and the head coach for the cross country team at Leander High School near Austin. Prior to that, he coached 3 years at Mesquite High School.
Coach Lawson received All-Distric Co-Coach of the Year in 2020. And in 2016, Coach Lawson was awarded the 6A Assistant Coach of the Year. This award is voted on by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
Coach Lawson is originally from Gainesville, Texas. He attended Abilene Christian University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education. He currently teaches AVID.
Kevin is married to Kellie and they have two children, Jake and Luke. In their free time, they enjoy watching sports, reading, hanging out with family, and going to church.

JV Head Coach - Coach Mike Bangs
The 2020-21 season is Coach Michael Bangs fourth season with Richardson High School. He is currently the JV Head Coach and the Varsity Assistant Coach. He spent 5 seasons as the Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Line and Assistant Basketball Coach at Hillcrest High School. Prior to that, he coached 3 years at Mesquite Poteet High School.
Coach Bangs is originally from Dallas, TX. He attended Lake Highlands High School lettering in both football and basketball. He received collegiate scholarships for both football and basketball. He received his bachelor degree in Mass Communications and minored in Business at New Mexico State. He currently teaches Physical Education.
Michael is married to Karisha and they have two children, Phillip and Piper. In their free time, they enjoy traveling, movies and great food.
